Is there an equation for calculating the number of circular permutations with 4 elements with possible repetitions? 1234 1111 1112 (= 1121 = 1211 = 2111) … I think I know the right solution but whenever I do it on paper, my number is smaller. 🤔🤷‍♂️

Off to a great start of the week with the bulk of my PhD work published on Protein Science. Briefly, using biochemical/physical and computational approaches we characterised the conformational changes regulating the Munc18-1/syntaxin-1a complex. More here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10…

We have posted our latest work on SNARE proteins in BioRxiv. 🙂🍾 We found that there is a matching pattern in the core of the SNARE complex that dictates the position of the four fundamental SNARE types in the bundle, resulting in a QabcR complex. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Our latest study is available as a preprint. aysima hacisuleyman looked at the question of how protein dynamics and function can be investigated directly using the protein sequence. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Very proud to be part of this study led by Anna Malaspinas, published in nature, exploring the genomic history of Rapa Nui. Huge shoutout to Barbara and Victor for their amazing work! Check out our findings here: nature.com/articles/s4158…

Analyses by Barbara Mota, AnnaSapfo Malaspinas, Olivier Delaneau et al. show that the Polynesian population of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) already had a Native American admixture of about 10% before Columbus, which shows that they reached the American continent. nature.com/articles/s4158…
