Having read about and explored different stories from the book Survivors by David Long, year six planned and produced a survival guide. They gave advice, tips and ideas on what to do in different situations. Their guides were fantastic and a joy to read. Well done year six!

This week Reception are enjoying activities linked to the traditional tale The Three Little Pigs. We have cleaned the muddy pigs after they have built their houses, we have painted pictures of the characters from the story and also used props to help us to retell the story.

We are delighted to announce the completion of the new "Discovery Hub". The weather did not dampen the unveiling by Sir Gavin Williamson, who had the honour of cutting the ribbon today!

Year 3 have enjoyed creating their mechanical monsters this week in DT. they understood that it was compressed air that lifted the lid to make the monsters mouth move. They then went and taught the little children how to use their toys.

Who doesn’t have fond memories of den making! Reception have enjoyed building dens in our outdoor area this week.

32 children from Year 4, 5 and 6 took part in Young Voices 2024. Over 5000 children performed as a single choir for an audience of family and friends at Resorts World, Birmingham. Well done to everyone involved, you were all amazing!!

It was all about the special ladies in our lives in EYFS today. It was lovely to see so many moms and nans pop in to share a bit of fun together with their children and friends. Everyone had a great time 🌼

Year 5 visited Tudor World in Stratford Upon Avon this week as part of their history topic. They all said how much fun they had in this immersive learning experience.

We had lots of visitors in Early Years this week to celebrate Mother’s Day with the special women in our life. It is always lovely to see so many of you join us in our school day.

‘bug Hunt’ was the task of the day for Reception. They enjoyed searching for creepy crawlies in their outdoor garden. They used their observational skills to draw what they found as well as drawing their favourite creatures. Well done!

Year 3 have had a great week in Art learning about George Seurat and Pointillism. They learnt the technique of painting using dots and blending primary colours to make secondary colours. They were only allowed to use the three primary colours in their final painting of a city.

Well done to children in Year 5 this week who have written some fantastic non chronological reports about the Peasants' Revolt. Miss Tkaczuk is really impressed with all of your hard work.

This week, children in Year 5 are learning how to make an interactive game in Microsoft PowerPoint. Today, children learned how to add images into PowerPoint and how to add hyperlinks to these images. Tomorrow, we will be adding audio into their games.

What a fantastic day! Year 4 were transported back in time to experience life during the time of The Saxons. delivered an awesome workshop, where the past was brought to life and hooked the children from the start.

Super learning experiences for Featherstone Academy: Y6 dissecting hearts, Y6 Residential thanks to Kibblestone International Scout Campsite and Y1 visited Dudley Zoo.

Year 3 had a fantastic day at the Victorian village in Blists Hill on Tuesday. Children learned lots about Victorian life, including how candles were made, food was made and what homes were like. They then had a fantastic experience of Victorian school life too.  The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust

Congratulations to those children that were part of The Children’s University graduation this week. They received Bronze, Silver and Gold awards for their participation in extra-curricular activities, in order to further develop a love of learning. Well done everyone!
