No 2 is the main reason, in my experience... For real farms, in the same family for generations, it might be fair enough. But whether this should be one of the better known tax loopholes is more open to question.

Leaving aside the specific madness of criminal justice policy at the moment, people making dumb decisions which don't reflect the full downstream consequences of their actions based on superficial thinking and a spreadsheet is the scourge of life in the 21st century...

A large factor in the NHS crisis is because it's effectively the public service of last resort, after people have been failed by the politicians running every other public service. Let's fix those services first, then we can have a debate about how much the NHS *really* costs...
