I spoke about this as one of the last (and biggest) barriers to true open science in a blog post: communities.springernature.com/posts/sharing-…. Visas are a gatekeeping system. We should pick conference destinations that allow for a fast/smooth processing of visas, and unfortunately US/Schengen don't.

Two more days to go, so excited about this one! Before (or after) #CogSci2024 consider having a look at the talks from the virtual part of the workshop which focused on ✨Compositionality in Maths and Non-linguistic reasoning ✨…hop-compositionality-cogsci-2024.info School of Psychology, University of Birmingham

Do we learn differently from surprises as we age? We asked this using a RL task that deconfounded outcome probability & PE magnitude. Older adults learned more from large PEs than young adults. t.ly/DhjLo Fun teamwork w Dr. Christoph Koch Ondrej Zika Rasmus Bruckner

Our graduate school on Curiosity officially started this month and our Theory Kick-off in September is all set to get us inspired, thinking and talking to one another. While the in-person events are for graduate school members only, you can sign up to watch the lectures online.

🥳🚨 PUBLICATION ALERT! 🚨🥳 Excited to share this new paper, co-authored with Julian Kiverstein! The article explores how rational constructivist theories of child development can be enriched by integrating insights from predictive processing. OA: doi.org/10.1111/tops.1… 🧵1/5

Procrastinating on writing this morning, instead I produced Open Encyclopedia of Cognitive Science Bot, a bot that posts articles from the Open Encyclopedia of Cognitive Science. (I think it works better on the sky place but I got it going on twitter too).

📰 New preprint! We show using computational modelling that transdiagnostic compulsivity is associated with greater uncertainty about learned task structure This work was led by Siri Sookud, starting during her MSc Thread below👇 osf.io/preprints/psya… 1/n

I'm so ashamed of Europe right now. And for people that are willing to wait around and just see what happens: I hope you realize what a privileged position you are in.

Gino's case against us has been dismissed. Scientists cannot effectively sue other scientists for exposing fraud/errors in their work. Those who work to correct the scientific record can sleep better tonight. Those who don’t want it corrected, well, I don’t care how they sleep.
