1/ Israeli media reported that the IDF dropped flyers over a south Lebanese village calling for the residents to leave their homes immediately. It later emerged that these flyers were prepared and disseminated by a specific regiment without authorization. --->

2/ The initial reports spoke of an "unusual move" for the IDF. Later rebuffed, everybody seemed pleased to return to "normal". This was an aberration and it will be dealt with by the proper authorities. Kudos all around for the convenient, comprehensive lie. --->

3/ Truth is, this chaos is the new Israeli normal. I've written about such incidents in Gaza, some of them lethal. This does not imply that Israel's genocidal campaign is less intentional. It just reflects the maddening assumption of impunity at the root of this evil. --->

4/ Israeli authorities now rule through actively encouraging lack of discipline and respect for the law. This is self-avowed policy. Personal loyalty is rewarded and sectorial agendas are met. Reserve units in Gaza are crowdfunding for equipment and even men. --->

5/ In a way, this is the minimalist, libertarian state gone mad. Dehumanization negates the basic human traits and bonds. It breeds a morality and an ethics of ״homo homini lupus". We are all at each other's throats here if only for lack of any authority. --->

6/ What fills us with vitality and a sense of meaning is our ability to deny the Palestinians completely. If we had a policy of extermination we would be acknowledging the realness of the Palestinians, if only by setting benchmarks and leveraging them. That is not the case. --->

7/ We don't care what happens to the Palestinians. We renounce the notion that "we" are doing anything to them. They are destroying themselves (our former PM, Bennett, spoke in 2021 about the "self-genocide" of the Palestinians). We exist in parallel universes. --->

8/ Anyone can do what they want to the Palestinians. The important thing is that no one actually "does" anything. There is no need for discipline or rules, and certainly not for rights or protections. There is no "excess" because the Palestinians are not real. --->

9/ Of course, this is also true when it comes to the Lebanese. There is no "Lebanon". It is a failed state when Israel is asked to negotiate with its authorities. It is a Hizballah dictatorship when Israel wants to destroy it. Lebanon is not real, so who cares what we do? --->

10/ We don't care. There is no cause for empathy. The circle of guilt and complicity is airtight- Hamas did it, it hides among civilians, the civilians support it, everyone deserves to die and those who don't should count their blessings. They are not real. Only we are real.

Rarely have I seen AI described so succinctly.

Again: if everyone, everywhere, truly accepted that seven million Jews and seven million Palestinians are not going anywhere, and that any possible future has to include and encompass both, the whole energy around this conflict would shift. There, and even more around the world.
