For me, conflict shows commitment to a relationship. In a world of prioritizing silence and compliance, having the guts to have conflict shows you care enough to have a conversation about it. Might be messy or uncomfortable but better than the alternative of pretending it's okay.

The thing that's advanced my perspective isn't some system of thought or particular framework but the realization that making space for the indeterminate, the unanswerable, or those things too big for me to hold but are at least viscous enough to grasp lessens a lot of grief.

On 'nature':

No matter how many times it must be said, we seem to return to this same point as if bound by reflex—

We do ourselves a great disservice (despite our highest intentions) by dissecting the person from a so-called external 'nature'. No such division exists.

There is no level at which sharing sufficient identity categories means a person will never hurt you or let you down. “Community” and “solidarity” are things you BUILD, not magical inherent things floating out in the ether by dint of sharing certain characteristics or experiences

I’m just saying, if we don’t get past the idea that “community”=“people who share an identity with me and therefore we never fuck up or hurt each other,” it’s gonna be a rough future. The solution to this isn’t retreating into ever-smaller identity bubbles, either

the academic and artistic fetish for listening to environments without self reflection on white supremacist culture and behaviour, without redistribution of resources and landback is useless at best, and can do far more harm
