In 2019, we began to realize how much of env psych was based on consumer behaviors that aren't impactful enough to stem the tide of climate change. Many groups pivoted to studying collective behaviors like activism and advocacy, and those papers are starting to come out. 1/2

Finally had time to read first 3 commentaries on our paper “Replication value as a function of citation impact and sample size” w. Daniël Lakens & Anna van 't Veer. Two preliminary thoughts:
- I love preprints
- Open criticism & peer review of articles is good for science

Call still open!

Well, the APC for publishing one paper in Scientific Reports is equal to about a 5-6 month salary of a typical Vietnamese lecturer. Most can't pay the APC, nor access subscribed journals. They are excluded from essential resources for doing science.

Remember our paper that was accepted two weeks ago, and that contained a re-analysis of 'all the pre-registered studies with open data ever published in JCR'?

Turns out this analysis contained two errors, that we were luckily able to fix before the paper is published.

This may be one of the biggest papers I ever have the privilege to be part of.

Out now in Science Magazine, we ask: Are nature conservation interventions working?

The answer is YES. We now need to fund MORE to reverse global biodiversity declines.

🫂✅How many different organizations are working on structured with evaluation prompts and a trained community of scholars?

So far, I count @repliCATSproject, 𝙳𝚊𝚟𝚒𝚍 𝚁𝚎𝚒𝚗𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚒𝚗 (unjournal), and the SCORE Project/COS.

Are those all? I'm curious to contrast approaches.

Reproducibility checks take an awful, awful, awful amount of time and brainpower... but they are essential to building a trustworthy literature.

We need to fund these efforts.

After 4 years and ~1000 replication packages, I am stepping down this month as Code/Data Editor at Management Science. It's about time, but also the role/process has become untenable. Management Science is at a critical turning point here. A longer thread. 1/17
