Very few moths this morning, but star of the show was this female Black-Arches….

Rain increased the moths last night, but only two New for the Year. All flighty, so quick pics before they left….. Pine Carpet and Nutmeg….

Just back from a long weekend at Dawlish in Devon. But of R & R but did a couple nature strolls along the Warren etc. Photo’d this interesting Hoverfly, which looks to be Xanthogramma pedissequum, so any thoughts please guys..? Simon Knott Bob Dawson 💙 Graeme Lyons

Though butterfly numbers have been pretty disastrous this year, it was nice to see a few out on the wing over the last week…. Painted Lady, Speckled Wood, Large White and Comma…

Wonderful day out at Arne yesterday. Place looks stunning this time of year. Ospreys, Dartford Warblers best on the bird front….

….with a few late butterflies on the wing, including lots of Grayling….

….with a good number of Wasp Spiders…

….with of note, an unusual place to find an immature Raft Spider in this Gorse!

Also, excited to stumble across this ‘presumed’ Heath Dumble Dor beetle along one of the tracks! (Amazing colours on the underside too…)

Also, from this mornings trap, a ‘trio’ of Thorns! September, Canary-shouldered and Dusky!

Always worth a grin…a very welcome addition. Had my first Old Lady of the year this morning….. 😉😁

Kept the moth trap on throughout the last couple of muggy, wet nights, and it paid off! First Clifden Nonpareil for two years.. 🤩

So, in two days we’ve gone from Blue…..to Red! Red-underwing this morning….
