Last year, Harvard University placed dead last in FIRE's 2024 College Free Speech Rankings with a score of zero. The 2025 CFSR rankings are out, and Harvard is now joined by Columbia University in last place, with both universities receiving scores of zero and "Abysmal" speech climates.

Prospective students and parents should read these rankings and make college decisions accordingly. Colleges are not an undifferentiated blob. There are many schools (including elite schools) that respect free speech and maintain institutional neutrality. Choose those schools.
