Whilst Lord Kelvin is buried in Westminster Abbey, London, he is remembered on the family stone in the Necropolis. He also has his own commemorative stone. #Kelvin200

#onthisday in 1850, Jane Cowie Mitchell died. She was transferred from the crypt under Wellington Street Church to the Necropolis 29 and half years after her death. The site was being sold, as the congregation was moving church, so the bodies in crypt had to be exhumed.

John Stewart Blackie was the son of publisher John Alexander Blackie and Sarah Gemmell. He was killed in action at the Somme. He is commemorated on the family stone. The Battle of the Somme began on 1st July 1916. 19,240 were killed on that first day. #ArmedForcesDay

On 25th April 1915, Fleet Surgeon Adrian Andrew Forrester was killed in action at the Dardanelles. He was killed on the quarter deck of HMS Implacable just before he was to go ashore to attend to the wounded. #ArmedForcesDay glasgownecropolis.org/profiles/adria…
