This happens far too often: even when a proposal to rezone a property for denser housing is approved, it's downsized significantly in response to homeowner complaints. In this case there isn't even a developer lined up to build this (now reduced) affordable housing for the city.

It's still wild to me that "video games have gotten too good" was taken seriously as an economic argument for declining EPOP. But more broadly, too few economists have come to terms with the many lasting ways that the Great Recession shifted power from workers to employers.

As Christopher Mims 🤌 says, for many people, level 1 charging is perfectly sufficient. The press has confused people about the need for level 3 (fast) charging. If you can charge at home, you only need that for long road trips. Long trip? Take a break every few hours. wsj.com/business/autos…

My seven year old is very excited to board his first international flight. He and I are going to spend his last week before second grade exploring Toronto (and one of his requests, Niagara Falls!).

Despite the clear failure of its Vision Zero program, DC is downsizing its Open Streets events. Rather than something like that great stretch of Georgia Ave and other streets that were closed in prior years, this year the only closure will be a short stretch of 7th Ave.

For Labor Day, a reminder: Millennials have never been a job-hopping generation, and young adults still switch jobs at significantly lower rates than earlier generations.
