Bite-Sized Book Reviews: "Notes from Underground" by Fyodor Dostoevsky is the story of a hateful little man, filled with self-loathing and contempt. A hugely influential work, it introduced the anti-hero with no redeeming qualities. Imagine Radiohead’s “Creep” as a Russian novel.

Bite-Sized Book Reviews: "The Lover" by Marguerite Duras. Imagine LOLITA as a biography, written by a girl from a disintegrating family in French Indochina. Superbly written. This line stuck with me - “Very early in my life it was too late.” Two thumbs up. #BookReview

Bite-Sized Book Reviews: "All the Horses of Iceland" by Sarah Tolmie. An Icelander travels in search of his fortune and finds more than he bargained for, including a mystical mare. Beautifully written, in a style that is so spare, it's almost austere. Two thumbs up.

Bite-Sized Book Reviews: "The Ghost Writer" by Philip Roth is a fairly straightforward account of a talented young writer meeting a reclusive literary legend. Then comes the hook, and holy shit, it's a doozy, so completely unexpected that I still don't know what to make of it.
