Meant to add to the last tweet it is great to finally see Tobi's hard work in print. Been a long, hard road, and we still don't fully understand the mechanism, but seems SK channels can have both inhibitory and excitatory effects. Biology is complicated.

New postdoc position in the lab. Looking for someone with slice/patch and/or imaging experience. The project will be focused on visual processing at the single cell level in cortex and superior colliculus. To apply see: jobs.anu.edu.au/cw/en/job/5354…

Superior colliculus modulates cortical coding via POm. Very happy to finally see this work by Saba Gharaei and Suraj Honnuraiah out, thanks to a great collaboration with Ehsan Arabzadeh. See nature.com/articles/s4146…

Very sad day for neuroscience in Australia. The Australian National University has announced its intention to shut down neuroscience at the same institution where John Eccles and his many collaborators did their ground-breaking work. #saveEccles abc.net.au/news/2021-03-1…

Thanks everyone! It's heartwarming to see so much support from across the globe. There is a 2 week consolation period. If you want to make a submission please email it to: [email protected]. The proposal can be found here anu.edu.au/files/guidance….

Tune in to ABC Radio National this Saturday at noon to hear Robyn Williams and guests discuss the proposal to end neuroscience at the ANU. Thanks ABC RN! abc.net.au/radionational/…

Happy to release this one to the world. Another great collaboration with Lucy Palmer initiated by Guilherme Testa Silva. My first foray into human neurons! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

What's the difference between human and mouse neurons? Size matters. Just out in Cell Reports, thanks to a great collaboration with neurosurgeons at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Lucy Palmer lab and of course the great postdocs and students that actually did the work! cell.com/cell-reports/f…

Interested in understanding how your brain works? If so, we have two postdoc positions in my new lab at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia). See: careers.pageuppeople.com/513/cw/en/job/… Please retweet!

New paper on visual cortex input to the superior colliculus. Big thank you to Shuang (Yoyo) and Suraj for doing all the work! frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…

New paper on the cellular and circuit mechanisms underlying binocular vision in mice. Great work by former PhD student Suraj Honnuraiah (now Harvard University), Helena Huang, Robin Broersen, William Ryan and @neurobill. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Great work by Robin showing the important role of the superior colliculus in binocular vision and escape behaviour in mice.
