In 1847, worst year of An Gorta Mór, Indians of Choctaw raised $170 for Irish relief. Irish people never forgot & in 2020 donated €2.5m to a Native American tribe devastated by Covid. The Choctaw have now erected the Eternal Heart sculpture in Tuskahoma to mark the solidarity.

Dr Sheehy Skeffington referred this case in Seanad chamber recalling Senator Brosnahan who cited a phrase used by the school manager, Canon Troy “examined the child" and found him to be a liar about the cause of the beating. 2/6

Regarding the beating “the defendant teacher swore on oath that he had given three or four strokes to the child. His colleague, Mr. Kenealy, swore also on oath that he had witnessed five strokes being given. the dispensary doctor swore, also on oath, that ten weals 3/6
