Thank you all, and a special thanks to Constantin Zohner and Thomas Crowther for invaluable help and support throughout my PhD journey. I truly treasure these friendships and they will remain lifelong memories!
The 2nd #TreeMig Framework Workshop took successfully place WSL Umweltforschung, presenting background and applications of the forest landscape model TreeMig and introducing the users to the TreeMig R-package and GUI. treemig.wsl.ch/en/
Nice to see our new paper out, an effort by several labs, and led by Nina van Tiel. Global analysis of forest compositional structure and climate change impacts on tree species.
Why are there many evergreen and deciduous forests, but few mixed ones? Yibiao Zou discovered an interesting mechanism behind it. Read the paper: nature.com/articles/s4146… Crowther Lab WSL Dynamic Macroecology
Why do some forests go evergreen while others lose their leaves in winter? We show evidence that these forest types present alternative stable states across temperate regions. Led by our brilliant PhD student Yibiao Zou. Thanks to all the coauthors for making this study possible!
Zou et al. combine forest biodiversity observations & simulations to show that leaf types across northern hemisphere temperate regions follow a bimodal distribution. Yibiao Zou Thomas Crowther Constantin Zohner Crowther Lab D-USYS@ETH nature.com/articles/s4146…
We are ready for the #WBF2024⛰️🌱🚀 DME has arrived in #Davos to participate in World Biodiversity Forum workshops on #CHELSA, Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment MountainBiodiversity, #AI & #SpeciesDistributionModels. Curious? Come talk to Niklaus E Zimmermann Dr. Dirk Karger Haozhi Ma Elham Ebrahimi
Today, Dr. Dirk Karger from WSL Dynamic Macroecology presented his research at #WBF2024 in #Davos on how biodiversity trends from Natures Futures scenarios differ in feedback to the climate system. Great talk!
Dami Ogundipe from WSL Dynamic Macroecology just gave a great talk at the #WBF2024 in Davos on how to flexibly combine three important aspects of successful #ConservationDesign: Complementarity, Connectivity and Area!
Stunning talk by Philipp Brun from WSL Dynamic Macroecology on #DeepLearning ensemble DNNs using #CitizenScience data to build spatial #AI based multispecies models for analyses and plant #SpeciesIdentification at #WBF24 in #Davos.
