This. This. More of this. Well done Erch/Carl. The best Coach-Ed I've experienced as a newbie has been in context. Embedded, situated, and therefore meaningful. Might be time to be the change we hope to see...

Imagine if Courtney Lawes did this, but replaced the post with a defender and dialled up the variety on timing/space. #10xbetter

Same ideas of variability can be applied to rugby 🏉 👌 Great opportunity to co-design some of these changes with players as well

@brisbanegrammar u13s Rugby. Players have a voice (influences games), coaches embrace challenges to level up their coaching interactions. Epic group. Some experienced, some new to rugby, some new to contact sport, some new to team sport! Loving it! @BGSSport The Magic Academy

"The ecological approach (theory underpinning CLA) is not simply a games-based methodology." Great write up @josh_pck . Summarised it well and in an accessible way. Top stuff. combatlearning.substack.com/p/what-makes-t…

Leveling up in year 7 Gymnastics. Moving towards a Forward Roll. There is no way I could support all the students in improving without this approach. We’d either be too complex for some or holding some back. #individualised

18 months ago I graduated my MSc virtually in Aus from Stirling, Scotland. Last week I walked onto the campus for the first time. A beautiful location and I was hosted by Stephen Macdonald, someone who had an enormous impact on my studies. Thanks legend!😊 Academic Sport at Stirling University of Stirling

We’ve been incorporating pressure training within the UQ Rugby Academy program this season. Lots of different ways players experience pressure. Cool to discuss and experience those. Psychological tools required too!

💭Reflecting on a recent coaching experience... How markers/cones are used in practice can be the difference between handrailing and handcuffing players. If players are asked to move towards the same pre-determined markers on the field/court, that's a good sign of handcuffs🔒🙈

How can you simultaneously support 2 very different teams (13As + 13Bs) in a way that’s appropriate and representative of the game? Not entirely sure, but we’re giving it a crack at Brisbane Grammar!

Challenge: 💪 Have a session focus that doesn’t involve any sport specific technical or tactical skill. ✍️ Then design some games around that. Ask Qs as feedback, but only in line with the focus 🧘‍♂️ They’ll have fun and you’ll probably notice some very different things 🤝

I cannot believe what I just experienced. I feel like we underestimate kids all the time. 🧠🤯 Some of the strategies 13yr olds just employed in response to this game: Underload - rotate goalie often for breaks - time waste Overload - in their face on D - spread for possession

Although the authors ask for research, I found responding to the Qs they pose to CLA a helpful reflective task. Thinking a mentor/critical friend (knowledgeable other) would also assist. Again, not applied research, but my relatively uneducated thoughts ....
