An incredible day Fair Isle Bird Obs yesterday was all about the Red-backed Shrikes, with a conservative count of 32(!) scattered across the isle, with birds hunting on every fenceline, singing in the gardens, sheltering on the beaches and geos, and even groups out on the open heather 🤯

It was my turn to run the BTO CES this morning Walthamstow Wetlands with some of the team. 2 Juvenile Grey Wagtails are the first to be ringed at the site. The highlights for me as a ringing trainer is the good progress the trainees are making 👏#londonbirds

Wryneck, 2nd second brood of the year. July, Hungary. Not a replacement brood but a 2nd one, as they often do. Almost always using two different cavities.

Finally caught up with all 4 Great white Egret this morning at the Ingrebourne valley standing at the ringing table. Blackcaps are definitely on the move over the last few sessions but still getting a good mix of birds through the site #londonbirds
