Just returned after visiting The Denham Lab Dr Emma Denham ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฆฐ๐งฌ๐งซ๐ฆ ๐ฉโ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฅณ at University of Bath. Greatly looking forward to come back in September to commence my PhD and explore small regulatory RNAs.
Want a Friday afternoon delve down a rabbit hole? Check out @hellomicrobe Lauren Cowley and my new paper Genome-wide annotation of transcript boundaries using bacterial Rend-seq datasets microbiologyresearch.org/content/journaโฆ B. subtilis, E. coli and S. aureus genomes available
Important new paper from Dr Emma Denham ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฆฐ๐งฌ๐งซ๐ฆ ๐ฉโ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฅณ discovered 100s of new UTRs in genes from model organisms. Need to think how we might add this to our 'enhanced annotations' of E. coli and Staph aureus in MORF db Lots to digest here. Great work Emma and Lauren Cowley Andreas Lawaetz
It should be noted Andreas Lawaetz who did the work, is finishing up his PhD - heโs been a superb student who is super talented in the lab and also at coding - take the opportunity to snap him up, I am certain he wonโt be looking very long.
After three great years in the Denham Lab Dr Emma Denham ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฆฐ๐งฌ๐งซ๐ฆ ๐ฉโ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฅณ I have now found my way to the University of Strathclyde Paul Hoskisson ๐ท๐ฌ๐งซ๐งฌ๐ธ๐๐ฆ to work on most infamous Streptomyces. Thank you Emma for teaching me loads and thanks to the entire Hoskisson group for welcoming me wholeheartedly!
