A terrific / terrifying example for teaching externalities. Folks choose heavier cars because they're less likely to die in a crash (gray line). But that choice makes it much much more likely that you'll kill the other guy (red line). economist.com/interactive/un… #TeachEcon

(📣) The President of Brazil has issued a statement about Twitter: “The world isn’t obliged to put up with Elon Musk’s far-right free-for-all just because he is rich.” RETWEET if you agree. theguardian.com/world/article/…

Perhaps those that dragged this tongue in cheek parody video should have listened to the content. Maybe they wouldn't have found themselves useful idiots at the center of a DOJ indictment. 💁🏻‍♀️🌂 justice.gov/opa/pr/two-rt-…

There is zero place for these opportunistic, cooker nutters in our parliament. "In his dissenting report...Babet accused the inquiry of suppressing submissions and stated, without evidence or fact, that Covid-19 vaccines were responsible for the rise in excess mortality."

Independent Jacque Scruby failed to secure the NSW seat of Pittwater by a tiny margin last state election. The Liberal Party $$ machine ran huge — and their candidate won. Last Friday he was arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping a child. Should be a by-election to watch…

Agh… you can’t blame our governments…an easy mistake to make, letting foreign owned companies export almost all of our gas to the point we have to start importing, forgetting to charge them for it, letting them price gouge us… we all make mistakes!

Excellent as ever. Also great watercolours! "The first step onto that path is acknowledging that living in a chaotic and hard-hit world is not the same thing as facing the End of Everything."

It's not surprising at all to see the report come out about private schools getting so much more taxpayer funding than public schools. I'm in and out of private and public schools all the time and I can tell you: the gap is ever-widening. It's a national shame.

An Israeli sniper shot a 26-year old American peace activist in the head, killing her. This comes after the IDF shot an American in the leg & the U.S. said nothing. The U.S. has decided its citizens are acceptable targets of a foreign country’s military. bbc.com/news/articles/…

“It's perplexing how Peter Dutton continues to get kudos for being the go-to politician on the national security beat, when he has so clearly not just ignored the advice of ASIO, but undermined the agency's credibility.” Great piece from Laura Tingle abc.net.au/news/2024-09-0…
