The aftermath of the Lari Massacre on 26th March 1953. Mau Mau fighters had descended on the families of local chiefs, ex-chiefs, headmen, councillors & prominent Home Guard, burning them alive. The colonial govt retaliated by killing hundreds of Mau Mau fighters & sympathizers.

Field Marshal Musa Mwariama,he survived the Mau Mau war & never got arrested by the colonialists. Musa was born in 1928 & died in 1989 when he sucked poisonous snake venom from his friend's leg. He died but his friend survived. On his arrest,he was jailed once after independence.

Meet Robert Marshall,Kenya's official hangman in 1940s & 1950s. He was based at Kamiti where he executed those convicted of murder/rape.He was given the tender after providing the lowest quote:£5 for hanging a white person,£1 for an African & promised to hang Indians for free.

August 1st 1982: Moi after being brought to town in an armoured convoy from Kabarak led by Maj Gen Musomba to announce to Kenyans that he was back as C-I-C. Kenyans who watched him on TV that day remembers the crushed look on his face. Moi was not to be the same man again.

Meet Patrick Shaw, the police reservist who was most feared by the criminals in Nairobi. He rarely slept due to glandular disorder, so he used his nights to patrol the streets of Nairobi. He killed tens of armed robbers & made other flee from the city. Shaw died on 14th Feb 1988.

At the end of his tenure in 2002, President Daniel arap Moi says an emotional goodbye to some of his staff before boarding a military chopper to carry him from State House to Kabarak as he started his retirement after 24 years of service. Dr Sally Kosgei was very emotional.

1989: At the height of the single party rule in Kenya, Dr. Gikonyo Kiano was the landslide winner of the parliamentary seat. His sole opponent, Gidraph Mweru, was however declared winner and subsequently sworn in as MP. Ndindi Nyoro should see how far his area has come from.
