Today I hosted a team frm Raoul Wallenberg Institute Regional Office in Nairobi led by Rakel Lasern. RWI has been a valuable partner to State Department for Correctional Services | Kenya in devpt of the National Correctional Services Policy,capacity development for staff & inception of the Justice cooperation project

More than 10 Kenya Prisons Service institutions in Kenya have received mechanical and electric sewing machines from Faraja Foundation. This #SkillUp project aids the #reintegration process which has seen more than 100 #exoffenders receive sewing machines to empower their households. #WeCare

KSG’s Director General Ludeki Chewya also exchanged an MOU with the PS State Department of Correctional Services Hon. Safina Kwekwe, that will extend the partnership between the two institutions to ensure all the targeted 1000 recruited are trained. 4/5

PS Correctional Hon.Safina Kwekwe Tsungu , CBS today presided over the official opening of the in-person induction program for Probation Officers Kenya School of Govt, in Embu. 300 Probation Officers are expected to be inducted in different Kenya School of Govt specifically in Embu, Baringo and Mombasa.

The PS welcomed the newly recruited Probation Officers to Government and urged them to work their level best to ensure they have contributed in the administration of justice through proper management of offenders.

Their recruitment is expected to facilitate the increased use of non-custodial sanctions by the judiciary and facilitate supervision of offenders placed on non-custodial sanctions, rehabilitation, reintegration and resettlement of offenders in the community.
