Check out Seraiah’s blog on kelp forests and climate change! And stay tuned for more posts in the coming weeks from our amazing 2021 Santa Rosa Junior College interns!! srjcbml.weebly.com/blog
A huge thank you to my collaborators Daniel Swezey Dr. Sara E Boles, California Sea Grant for funding, and all the many volunteers who made this project possible. Excited to see what else these data have to tell us!
I'm late to #Crustmas. Here is little hermit #crab that recruited in my system as a larvae. Without access to a shell, it was clingy to the side of the bioreactor. Many thanks to Isabelle Neylan for the shells to pick from. Apparently, this one is just right. UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory
Our (Isabelle Neylan, Laura Rogers-Bennett, Jackson A Gross) paper is out now in Frontiers - Marine Science evaluating the use of non-invasive #ultrasound to assess reproductive condition in red #abalone. FUJIFILM Sonosite UC Davis UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…
“When I first saw the #ultrasound images of my kids, I saw the future of my family,” she said. “When I see the ultrasound images of these #abalone, I see the future of an entire species.” Dr. Dr. Kristin Aquilino in NYT Science
Read about the noninvasive ultrasound technology that's helping scientists determine when #abalone are ready to spawn in NYT Science, from a study in Frontiers - Marine Science by UC Davis researchers Dr. Sara E Boles, Isabelle Neylan, Jackson A Gross, & Laura Rogers-Bennett: nytimes.com/2022/02/28/sci…
Great piece by WUDAN YAN | wudan.bsky.social in the NYT Science covering our work using #ultrasound technology to assess #abalone reproductive health. Grateful to collaborate w/ @Kristinaquilino. FUJIFILM Sonosite Jackson A Gross U.S. Pacific Fleet nytimes.com/2022/02/28/sci…
Hearing Ira Flatow talk about our research on Science Friday about the use of non-invasive #ultrasound to assess the reproductive state of #abalone was the best! If you'll be in #BodegaBay this weekend, make sure to stop by and visit volunteers from the Bodega Marine Sciences Association at the Farmer's Market on 9/25! 📸 Volunteers from August: Kristin Aquilino (Dr. Kristin Aquilino), Sam Walkes, and Isabelle Neylan (Isabelle Neylan)
Love local goods & the coast? Head to #BodegaBay Farmer's Market to visit marine critters & volunteers from the Bodega Marine Sciences Association on Sun. 10/16! 📸 Volunteers from Sept: Isabelle Neylan(Isabelle Neylan) & Karolina Zabinski (Karolina Zabinski)
|| NEW RESEARCH || Within‐ and transgenerational stress legacy effects of ocean acidification on red abalone (Haliotis rufescens) growth and survival 📖 buff.ly/3QUdrB1 Isabelle Neylan
Gratitude to UC Davis for highlighting recently published research led by Isabelle Neylan Dr. Sara E Boles and myself looking at the effects ocean acidification on abalone across generations. Cumulative stress from OA threatens these species and growers should take steps to mitigate.
After a lot of hard work, a lot of years, and so much help from co-authors, collaborators, and volunteers our work exploring the legacy effects of OA on red abalone is finally out!! Thanks to everyone who made this possible Daniel Swezey Dr. Sara E Boles California Sea Grant
