'Research shows we cannot distinguish those seeking psychiatric euthanasia from those who are suicidal as a result of their mental illness. In these situations, instead of seeking MAiD to avoid a painful death, many seek death to avoid a painful life.' .mileniostadium.com/temas-de-capa/…

I cannot express how strongly I believe the government should not facilitate suicide by people suffering from anxiety, depression, or other forms of mental illness, particularly in a country where obtaining specialized psychiatric care is nearly impossible.

“When people are living in such a situation where they’re structurally placed in poverty, is medical assistance in dying really a choice or is it coercion? That’s the question we need to ask ourselves,” Dr. Dosani says.

This is a horrifying suggestion and yet another indication of how ableist and insidious this whole MAiD discussion has become. It’s eugenics at its finest. Let’s just get rid of anyone we don’t deem as “perfect”. I’m ashamed we are even having this discussion in Canada.

At some point, we will have a reckoning as a country with the ableism that has led to the expansion of MAID policy. Disability scholars, MDs, activists, lawyers have given ample evidence that MAID is deadly ableism at work. Heidi Janz Isabel Grant
