Regenerating tropical vegetation can have a positive impact on locally important hydrological ecosystem services: even young vegetation really helps water infiltrate. Having managed a project in Madagascar to quantify the impacts of forest restoration on the ecohydrological processes which underpin ecosystem services, I now get it. This research is HARD! Ecohydrologists are heroes (with awesome ability to fix technical issues anytime/place).
