Time limits are stupid. Full stop. We should be promoting people with management skills and maturity to teach/mentor. Not people who can crank out a few “high impact” papers in 5-7 years. And one wonders why there’s issues with cheating and poor management/mentoring…. 🙄

Jeffrey Mold Completely agree! Another easy-to-implement suggestion: make the ERC-Co "countdown" begin when the person starts their own lab (not linked to the PhD date). As now the system goes against postdocs who, for eg, establish (not just apply) new approaches, rely on in vivo work, etc
