I agree. Fungicides have worn off plus the weather is getting more conducive for tar spot! Checking standability in fields will be crucial for a successful harvest.

The latest #drought24 map released this AM shows Abnormal Dryness (D0) expanding in western/northern #IA. D0 is not drought, but a reflection of short-term precip. deficits. Aug. has been particularly dry in these areas. There is widespread rain potential over the next 24 hours.

Where did the yield come from this year? The average number of rows around the ears was identical to 2023, but each ear had approximately 5 more kernels in length. This translates to each ear being ~0.6 inch longer in 2024 compared to 2023 (on average).
