Because 46% of Dutch school children ride 2 school, ONE MILLION parents leave their cars @ home. Imagine, just imagine if our cities made it easier, safer & more convenient for our kids to walk, ride & scoot to school how much happier we'd all be! #RideScoreActiveSchools

So many co-benefits to this surge in cycling. Potential for this to lead to more people choosing bike for regular a to b trips, school, work, shops etc. Many health, social, economic an environmental benefits.

Congratulations to the Ballarat Clarendon College Class of (a very challenging) 2020. Numbers don't tell us everything, but a median ATAR of 93 does at least demonstrate a great deal of hard work on the part of students and teachers. Well done all!

An inspiring day at #LDALinneaInOz hearing from Linnea Ehri on her pioneering work on reading science. Also hugely valuable concrete examples of evidence informed literacy making a difference from Emina McLean and 𝗗𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗶𝗻

Very proud to have played a small role in this study, now reported in a working paper. Still much to be done, but v encouraging results in reading from a knowledge curriculum, cumulative (K-6) long-term effect for all students approx 16 percentile points. edworkingpapers.com/ai23-755

Reading Treasure Island to Y4 and enjoying the essential survival items taken from the ship into a sinking lifeboat: smoked meats, biscuits, cognac, a selection of fine wines and a tin of Parmesan. No water. Perfect Victorian explorer protocol.

Local Ballarat resident Alice nails it in this opinion piece in The Courier today: “So, if you want fewer potholes, you want to see more people riding bikes and fewer people driving cars.”
