The Art of Inside Out 2 is out, it’s beautiful, and it’s packed with stories from all the people who poured their heart into it. Brings back so many memories of the incredible journey we had creating it. 💫 #insideout2 #pixar

When I think of my favorite Emotion to draw, oh man. Disgust 100%. The SASS. Those mouth shapes and the fabulous lashes that just amplify it all. These are some warm up sketches from when I was getting familiar with her volumes and expressions. #InsideOut2 is out TODAY!

At one point I was assigned a Sadness sequence called “Cry Hard” (!), which I’ll share in a future post, so before boarding I spent some time drawing poses and expressions to get a feel for her character. Can we talk about those little slippers. 🥺 #insideout2

Schoolism would NEVER make an AI ‘art’ course and we encourage all other educational platforms to do the same. It doesn’t benefit the artist, the art community, nor the future of art. No, thank you.

Drawing Anger was always somehow satisfying! What I loved about boarding on #Insideout2 was how the Emotions felt emotions themselves, yet still kept their primary self. When Anger felt joy, it was a fiery happiness; when he felt fear or disgust, his eyebrows would never lie! ❤️‍🔥

A few storyboard panels from #InsideOut2. The Belief System is very dear to me. I was the first assigned this sequence, the very first of many explorations. I aimed to show a living, breathing system—dynamic and ever-changing, like Riley navigating the complexities of growing up.

My exploration for the Belief System in #InsideOut2. Inspired by Amazonian roots, I envisioned them as glowing, translucent bubbles on branches, that rather than “showing” could “resound” collectively. It's so incredible to see how these early ideas evolved into the final movie.

Drawing Joy on #InsideOut2 was a delight. Her broad body language, arms always stretching and reaching, and constant motion brought so much energy to my days. As a former 2d animator—and not *that* extroverted myself, it was fun and therapeutic to step into her (barefoot) shoes!

The Belief System added such a rich layer to Riley’s world. It went through many rewrites but eventually made it back in the final movie. Here are a few of my story panels from the first version of the sequence. #Insideout2 #pixar

Part 1/2 - Sometimes, when we’re wrapping a reel for a screening and the script isn’t fully written, we use “storybook sequences.” A narrator voice sums up the action while key story beats are shown. This helps the team visualize and refine the narrative. #insideout2 #pixar

Part 2/2 - In this early version of the storybook sequence, the emotions explore Riley’s “Achievement” memories. It went through lots of rewritings but Fear’s parachute reveal gag stayed in the final cut. #InsideOut2 #Pixar

And last but not least of the original emotions, Fear! He was kinda challenging to draw with his sharp angles and jittery lines. His hands close to his body, shoulders raised, and those disconnected brows with eyes on the back of his head! Here’s a few studies #insideout #pixar

Today’s zoom gestures at work was Olympics themed! A mix of 30sec, 1min, 2min poses. When we do longer poses, I often start with a super rough, mini version of it just to block the main volumes and dynamic line and have a better feel of what to do next. Drawn on photoshop.

Really excited to finally see Dream Productions revealed! I helped storyboard an episode and can’t wait to watch the rest of it when it drops on Disney+ in 2025! #pixar #insideout #dreamproduction #storyartist

Spent some time behind the scenes with Oscar, a 43-year-old silverback gorilla! Watching those subtle eye movements was such a treat. Here’s some sketches and notes from the day. #sketches #gorilla
