Meet Luisne Mac Conghail, who completed her MSc in Health Policy & Management in 2022. Not only an alumni, Luisne is now a wonderful colleague in the Centre for Health Policy & Management, a scholar on the SPHeRE PhD Programme and works for HSE as SEO of Acute Operations

Meet Prof Olena Mazurenko and Carlos Bruen PhD, co-leads of the Comparative Health Systems module on our MSc in Health Policy & Management. During the module, MSc students examine the principles and practice of health system analysis and comparison.

A physician and a health services researcher, Olena is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health.

Carlos is the MSc Course Director and an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Health Policy and Management in Trinity College Dublin, with teaching and research focused on the varied dimensions of health systems and policy at national and global levels.

Alumni of our postgraduate education programme are continually impacting on the health systems they work in. Meet Lucy Nugent - a long term colleague and friend of the Centre and our Discipline of Public Health and Primary Care, and CEO at Tallaght University Hospital.

We now introduce our amazing colleague Prof Sara Burke, who leads the Health Policy module delivered as part of our MSc in Health Policy & Management. Sara is Director of the Centre for Health Policy and Management and co-director of the national structured SPHeRE PhD Programme.

Sara has worked for more than 25 years as a researcher and educator in and of health systems and policy. This includes as PI for Health Research Board (HRB)-funded Foundations for Sláintecare Implementation research project.

She has also worked as a member of the core team of researchers that provided technical support for the Oireachtas Committee on the Future of Healthcare, which informed Sláintecare, Ireland’s reform programme for achieving a universal single-tier health and social care system.
