Today an aspiring author found our home number somehow and called us, asking to get her book published. DH very politely explained why he couldn’t but she did not let up. Here’s a tip: don’t do this.

Sometimes, it's not that the book isn't good. Maybe the timing is wrong. Or maybe you need to develop more as a writer & come back so you can do the book justice. Both these statements are true in my current situation. Sometimes, your very first book might still be your best yet.

I can’t believe the thoughts and prayers haven’t worked by now.

Me, to someone who has never written a book but says they want to write a book: You can do it! Just go for it! Also me, in my head: they'll never do it. They have no clue how freaking hard it is to write a book. Ugh, am I a bad person?

Pantsing another short story in between book edits and I'm sensing that this one will also fall under my universal short story theme of death and grieving. Why can't I just write something happy for once???
