My thanks to Tom Allon, Julie Samuels and City & State NY for inviting me on their podcast with Chancellor John B. King to discuss how AI can better serve students and higher ed institutions, and how we can reduce fear and resistance to AI tools.

Picked up some new computer science skills at the The City University of New York Hackathon, thanks to CUNY Tech Prep! It was exciting to meet students and discover innovative ways to use digital and mobile tools to increase awareness of student resources and services.

Earlier this spring, The City University of New York co-sponsored a study abroad trip for 30 Dreamers to travel to Mexico that not only offered educational enrichment, but also the chance to reconnect with relatives they hadn’t been able to see since they left Mexico very young. amny.com/opinion/cuny-d…

I was deeply disappointed to learn demonstrators disrupted a Hillel welcome dinner for students from CUNY and universities across the City. The safety of everyone in our community remains our top priority. Read my full statement: ow.ly/kp5m50Tgqw5

Delighted but not surprised to see that The City University of New York colleges have once again been recognized for their unmatched ability to provide a high-quality education and degrees that quickly and effectively pay for themselves.

No college experienced the impact of 9/11 more immediately than BMCC, whose Tribeca campus became engulfed in the day’s destruction. Windows were blown out when the planes hit. Debris and dust filled campus buildings after the towers fell. #NeverForget

At John Jay College, the magnitude of 9/11 played out in the days and weeks that followed as the list of victims grew to include 67 alumni, students & faculty. The names of those lost are etched in a campus memorial whose centerpiece is a twisted steel beam from the north tower.
