As the government start to make positive noises about more active travel, it's a good time to repeat this thread about the psychology of habit and why simply providing alternatives to the car won't change much

‘Too few police forces use the fact that it is a crime for someone to solicit sex in public to crack down on men buying sex, while arranging to buy sex online is entirely legal’ I agree 💯 with Sonia Sodha and in response to my adjournment debate Jess Phillips made this clear.

It's shocking that Highways felled over 100 trees in Quinton when only 6 needed removing. The impact this has had on residents can't be understated. My constituents have suffered long enough. I look forward to reading the ombudsman's findings this week. bit.ly/3XhvNjM

In 2024 🇬🇧, life is more accessible if you have a pet in tow than if you’re disabled. It’s easier to travel, eat out, go on holiday, (in many cases) work, go into shops/services with a pet than if you need any sort of adjustment for a disability (1/2)

Tanni is an exceptional woman, it makes you realise how we take everyday life for granted like getting on and off public transport. ⁦Louise Haigh⁩ ⁦Tanni Grey-Thompson⁩ Tanni Grey-Thompson: I had to crawl off a train — then I got trounced by trolls thetimes.com/uk/society/art…

To me this is both confirmatory and scary. Using US data The Economist demonstrate that drivers of the heaviest vehicles kill more people (crashes) than they save (being inside a so called ‘safe’ vehicle). In the UK the size of our vehicles is also increasing exponentially
