A coastal meadow bursting with life. Gorse pods pop, grasshoppers stridulate, swallows call & catch insects in flight, & countless bees & hoverflies buzz over one of our most important, unjustly maligned, wildflowers - common ragwort. This grassland was utter joy to sit in today.

🔊🔊 He's been a songster all though his rehab journey. LOVE his little legs grabbing the nest cup at the end of this clip in his eagerness to get food!

🔊🔊 The best sound in my world, is the sound of thriving Swiftlets at breakfast 'Beth': rescued after parents deserted following a roof repair 🤬 & 'Moltres', fallen from its loft nest into the bathroom, then heroically transported 3 counties to me for rehab #EverySwiftCounts

Was happy (& terrified) to appear on ITV news item about the worrying decline of our swift populations. Huge thanks to all Leeds Swifts for making it happen. Do get in touch, there are affordable simple ways to save our swifts. youtu.be/GA_zrYO55xA?si…

Gala (at feeding time) who came in 4 days ago weighing just 18g. Found on a pavement in Thurcroft, Rotherham, her rescuers didn't hesitate in travelling 45 mins to get her to me after a hard day. She's bounced back & is permanently on the lookout for crickets 💚🖤🤍

Hen Harrier Day at Carsington Water Today (Sat 10th). Hear the RSPB Head of Investigations, Mark Thomas, (Bucktonbirder) speak, along with lots more top speakers, music, stalls and family friendly activities. (I'm there in spirit).

To think my fingertips are the last connection wee swift 'Rick Astley' will have to earth bound life is everything... To know he's free to soar and sing amongst the starlight tonight is divine. Rick Astley

Much needed fab day out with my bestist muckers post swift rehabbing. Mucho laughing at our bird impressions, and fab views of Osprey over moorland.

Throughout her rehab it remained unclear whether beautiful swift Doris (love name - Wonky Dodo) would ever soar into her future, euthanising this epic swift was a very real possibility until the very, very last moment.

It's that time of year again. Our summer migrants head south for the winter but we get a new batch of birds from the north. Listen here as 1000s of sand martins & swallows converge along the SE coast, heading to roost for the night, staging on their journey to Africa. Safe trip!
