Ablelist leftists will really complain about "keyboard warriors" and then actively avoid any attempt at making their spaces accessible to disabled people 😭

Doing that thing where I pitch ideas to the Twitterverse. I'd really like to write a piece early next year about why there is such a proliferation of disability memoirs being pubbed in the last couple of years. TLDR: I know the answer and would like to report that.

Whiny John Tweet alert, but I do sometimes feel, as I do today, that I am punished in Canadian crip community for being kind. I promise you, even if we're mutuals, that 99% of you know very little about my experience of disability and that your presumptions are harmful.

total shot in the dark: Do you live in B.C.? Do you use food-delivery or ride-hailing apps (DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, etc)? Did you receive a recent email from those companies about new legislation in the province? If so, I'd love to see them

Things have gotten a little spicy 🌶️ on my timeline today regarding goalball. It’s hard to have patience for the ignorance shown towards para athletes and para sport when you see first-hand how hard these Canadian athletes work and how much they care. Positive vibes only here.

invoicing for my 180th piece today. It will be 200 by the EOY. That's almost one piece a work day. Thankful to my editors, proud of myself. Could not have imagined the business that I have now two years ago. Look at us Saskatchewan freelancers go Kara Detwiller

Every time I log on here Twitter decides to show me tweet after tweet of journalists being assholes to PR staffers. Less of that would be great.

John Loeppky (@cymru_et_canada) 's Twitter Profile Photo

+1. A lot of journalists in this country who are entrenched in this industry still think that doing a J school degree is required to make a living. When, in fact, I think we're close to the point where it hinders development. See the UofR report on their school for proof of that

I don't know who needs to hear it, but if doing access work on social media is triggering/traumatizing you then it may be time to take step back from that work temporarily.

Be pragmatic with your hope, learn to build a business, ignore the endless negativity that has been pervasive in this industry for decades. Just because old roles no longer exist does not mean other opportunities haven't sprung up.

I wish YouTube and Facebooks algorithms would quit showing me a bunch of parents making videos about their disabled kids with no care for how the disabled kid might feel in the future.

John Loeppky (@cymru_et_canada) 's Twitter Profile Photo

After seeing a number of posts on the topic, I really want to write a piece about disabled cartoonists who have come to understand themselves this way in the last three or so years.

On Monday, I think I'm going to make a thread of the editors that I've had the pleasure of working with this year and talk about some of the stories I wrote.
