David Milner I told my GP’s clinic (in front of the whole waiting room) they were greedy and price gouging after the Medicare rebate was tripled and pointed out I have a Seniors Healthcare Card. Oddly enough they have bulk billed me every time since. 👍
David Milner Plenty of us have been vocal, but the comfortable, selfish, stupid bastards who populate this country don't care because they were duped into private health and are pathologically centrist. The default culture here is craven bootlicker pretending to be pragmatic.
David Milner Neil Brennan 🌊 It's the same for pensioners, David. The albanese govt was elected promising, among many promises, to restore bulk billing. It's going the other way as more and more medical centres drop bulk billing. I can't find one in Port macquarie
David Milner we've internalised neoliberal thinking to such an extent that we don't think we deserve bulk-billing, or free education, or all the good things that we used to expect the state to provide
David Milner We’re such a lazy country when it comes to protesting. Decades of being proud of our healthcare and then happily letting it be stripped away
David Milner Following treatment for cancer & endometriosis over the past two years, I’m out of pocket about $60K. To find a doctor who could/would actually treat my pain from endo has set me back over $150k in medical bills alone since 2020. The system is broken.
David Milner We’ve been cultured to become the quiet Australians
David Milner My old GP bulk billed kids but he got so burnt out that he left medicine altogether. $87 up front for a kid's GP visit yesterday and it was less than 4 minutes 😕
David Milner Do you remember the outrage when the Tony Abbott government proposed a $5 co-payment for GP visits? I do. Now we are paying $50 per visit and we are happy when we can get one...
David Milner Medicare rebates have been under-indexed for decades. Politicians know that defunding Medicare is poison, so instead they’ve been boiling the frog until rebates become unlinked to cost Instead, they point the finger at “greedy doctors” who had been absorbing the increased costs
