I found this elaborate, hand-made enamelled iron candle-holder in a second hand shop. It is a beautiful object - the whale moves across the bow of the ship when the weight is swung. But it is also a reminder of the long, bloody history of hunting of these extraordinary creatures.

It is wonderful to see Hastings Borough Bonfire Society celebrate the radical Irish writer Robert Noonan (pen name Robert Tressell). He wrote the socialist classic ‘The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists’ while working as a housepainter in Hastings, the Mugsborough of the novel.

Thank you Ireland CG Cardiff & Wales in Ireland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇦 for making culture a key area for collaboration: we’ve so much in common, and so much to learn from each other. Great to see commitment to Ireland-Wales relationship strengthened by reopening of the Cardiff consulate. Beir Bua 🇮🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We as staff and Trustees of Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities tonight. This terrible event shows there is still significant discrimination in Wales, and the threat of violence is real. We all have responsibility to change this.

BLM activists, not museums, are the history makers. We are honoured that they entrusted their placards to us for display at St Fagans. Now if ever is the time to defend democracy & cultural rights; we must collect far more of the histories of Black communities in Wales, not less.
