For nearly 3 decades, we’ve been told that we need to strive to be happy each day. I get that happy is better than unhappy. I think we all get that. And I think it’s reasonable to want to have more “happy” days than unhappy ones. To be sure, the research is all over the place

I’ve been luck to meet many remarkable kinship carers- as the chair of the care review & now as an MP. Kinship’s report reveals how children raised by relatives & friends are missing out on the support they need. Recent progress but more needed. kinship.org.uk/forgotten-repo…

We welcome news that the Household Support Fund has been extended until April 2025 to ensure families still have access to vital local crisis support. We hope that the Government will develop a plan for the long term future of local welfare that includes permanent funding.

🚨New analysis finds local authority spending on children’s services has risen further – up 5% in 2022-23 to a record £12.2bn. This now accounts for more than a quarter of local government spending power – unsustainable levels given the building pressure on council finances. 1/7

Absolutely right to look at PISA data to compare 15 year olds experience at school…it will also show that 15 year olds in the UK have the lowest life satisfaction among European counterparts. Reforming & improving school must prioritise the wellbeing and happiness of pupils too.
