An investigation has found that over half of UK librarians have been asked to remove LGBT+ themed books, and the blowhard 'you can't write anything these days' literary clique have nothing to say about it. Why not? Because they're fine with it. 1/ indexoncensorship.org/2024/08/banned…

The Africa caucus at the South-South dialogue on obstetric violence and respectful maternity care, convened by the O'Neill Institute — a historic and incredibly important event bringing together Latin American & African thinkers/activists. 😍😍

Misoprostol is on the World Health Organization’s list of essential medications. It is highly effective at both treating and preventing postpartum hemorrhage—the second most common cause of maternal death after mental health crises

72 Men. All lived within a few miles of her home. One was her neighbor. Not one of them asked for confirmation of consent, despite her being unconscious, not even the man who’s HIV positive. Not one of them asked to talk to her. Not a single one. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Why don’t they become Afghan women for the day? Show some solidarity by covering their entire bodies, being silent, not driving, not going to the gym, park or college & staying at home. Or just refuse to play Afghanistan

One thing that's made my blood boil in the Pelicot trial is the part medical misogyny played in allowing the horrors to go on. Gisele went to Drs about gynae issues, memory loss, etc and it was all dismissed as female hysteria or female troubles to just learn to live with.

Enjoyed a fabulous conference on the politics of caesarean section in Lausanne, Switzerland. Such a privilege to be a keynote speaker presenting on the interface between caesarean section & obstetric violence. And Lausanne is immensely beautiful, with its lake & mountains.🩵🇨🇭

I’m not saying this to be provocative, but if one-third of men admit they would rape women if they could get away with it, are the men who raped Gisèle the worst men? Or are they average men?

Sometimes I wish that academia realized support (for students, faculty, and staff) could look like giving people time to rest rather than calling another meeting or planning an event.

This is a great way to think about how to contribute to scholarship. Reminds me of Rachelle Chadwick's essay on epistemic generosity. In feminist epistemology, we stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us and will continue the work after us. #phd; #feminist

This anti-lecture sentiment is dire for higher Ed, and honestly for critical thinking. A good lecture is dynamic and interactive, shows how to build and make an argument, is compelling, is a space to think

Hi! I'm looking to get a deeper understanding of the landscape of activists + organisations working on #SGBV and #rape in #India. This is for my PhD on feminist activism and practices of care at @fletcherschool. Any leads would be appreciated! Thank you! #gender #feminism
