You literally can't get more textbook than this tornadic supercell likely producing a significant tornado right now W of Longwood, NC #ncwx

OTD 1 YEAR AGO: a sleeper mini-supercell setup in West Alabama yielded perhaps the best drone shot I’ve ever gotten while chasing #alwx James Spann

The possibility of a nominal decrease in count of severe hail days, but larger hail overall is a very fascinating takeaway. Check this out ⬇️⬇️⬇️

1st tornado I ever saw. Was just b4 Memorial Day, and we had some fireworks out and ready, but ran inside. I lived SW of Mulhall, N of Guthrie and the tornado in its latter stage of life was barreling right at us - looking SW, a deep, dark greenish black mothership and tornado !

When looking at #Gilma earlier, I applied an infrared color map to the red visible channel of GOES-18... and it actually is a pretty close approximation to true IR temps (when it's ~local noon)!

Incredible Sentinel Hub satellite imagery from earlier today shows absolutely pure fluid dynamics in action in the high north of Nunavut, Canada #cawx

tnvalleyweather.share-a-link.top/card/xwqrfl Interesting news in the Mobile Radar sector - the DOWs are now affiliated with UAH (my local pride and joy!) #alwx

Whichever one of y’all broke her heart better apologize, because these “paid to be wrong 50% of the time” jokes are getting to me 😩

Very nice shelf cloud moving SSE through Lewis County, TN right now (with storms also visible on our X-band in Lawrenceburg) #tnwx

Good to see some of our X-bands old tornado data still being toyed with and enhanced. Attenuation correction would have been particularly useful this day, February 16th, 2023 - we observed a nearby vortex hole and TDS at close range, but quite attenuated from FFD precip #tnwx

Looks like a tornado was at least briefly OTG west of Niagara Falls on the Canadian side of the border - this cell is moving SE into NY with time #nywx #onwx

IMO, not surprising. Fujita’s “legacy” intuition was revolutionary, and anecdotally it’s pretty clear the new scale hasn’t been exactly the most accurate when it comes to the upper end of tornado-strength. Tornadoes in the last 11 years haven’t magically stopped hitting 200mph.
