Exciting to see one of our Edinburgh YAC's win a place on the excavations at Kilmartin. Fraser was very excited to show us his new archaeology trowel which he is hoping to get even more use out of!!

Just a reminder that Sunday 26th November is our next meeting of the Edinburgh YACs. We will be learning all about board games and will also be having a go at making our very own Lewis Chessmen out of clay. #EdinburghYAC

We had a brilliant time at our November Edinburgh YAC meeting. Laura taught us all about archaeology and board games. We then created our own Lewis chess pieces out of clay and then played the ancient Egyptian game of Mehen #EdinburghYAC

Sunday was our last Edinburgh YAC meeting of the year and it was another morning full of crafts and activities. We learned all about Saturnalia and created our own festive archaeology tealights and had a go at making hats! #EdinburghYAC

On Sunday, the Edinburgh YAC's learned all about the Anglo Saxons and the amazing archaeological excavations at Sutton Hoo. We even made our very own Sutton Hoo helmets. #EdinburghYAC #Archaeology

We had a great time on Sunday learning all about the Galloway Hoard. We also had the opportunity to think about and create our very own 21st century hoard. #EdinburghYAC

On Sunday our Edinburgh YAC's had a look at hand painted tiles from around the world. We took a look at Portugal, Spain and even Glasgow's very own tenement tiles. Then we tried making our very own!! #EdinburghYAC

Our Edinburgh YAC's met at Holyrood Park on Sunday to learn about tapestries. Kevin gave us a talk on our own versions of the Unicorn Tapestries at Stirling Castle and Laura told us all about the Bayeux Tapestry. We then made our very own Edinburgh YAC tapestry.🦄🦄🦄

On Sunday, the Edinburgh YAC's visited the National Museums Scotland . We spent the morning exploring the Scotland's Early People and Kingdom of the Scots galleries. We also got to see some exciting artefacts up close, including the Lewis Chess Pieces and the Hunterston Brooch!!

It's Olympic season here in Holyrood Park. This weekend our Edinburgh YACs learned about the Ancient Greek Olympics. We even made our own laurels..!
