Our Active Hands summer programme students started their week learning to weld and ended it meeting the Minister for Transport supporting Derby's bid to become Headquarters for Great British Railways #DerbyGBR - not a bad week's work for these 11-15 year olds😀

This week saw us enabling young people to determine their own future by engaging government ministers with the voice of our youth.

Our Summer Active Hands Students have been up to all sorts this summer as you've probably seen 😃 We've learnt how to repair bikes and cars as part of this fabulous school holiday programme supported by HAF funding and Eastmidlandsrailway

One of the main objectives of the Summer HAF programme Active Hands is to combat school holiday hunger by providing healthy food to our young people. They've certainly enjoyed trying a wide range of food and have taken home ideas about healthy eating, food prep etc.

WE WON!What an amazing evening at the National Community Rail Awards with East Midlands Railway and Derwent Valley Line Community Rail Parnership.These amazing partners enabled us to deliver a joint project which was the Winner of the Involving Children and Young People Category

Derbyshire Police have been asking community groups to make bees in support of its Anti-Violence Campaign, and our students helped to create this awesome plasma-cut bee made from steel. #police #community #students

We are very proud of this young man :-) He started as a student with us when he was at school, he's also done some work experience with us, and achieved his Level 2 with us.... And now he's only gone and got himself a job at Jacob Bijani. What a star!
