In Brussels with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jabar Al-Sabah. Discussed how to further strengthen ties between #Malta 🇲🇹 & #Kuwait 🇰🇼 and how we can work together for peace and cooperation in the Med., the Gulf and Africa.

An honour for me to take part in #Malta's 🇲🇹 first meeting in the Group of Friends of Mediation, 53 states & 8 int. organizations in favour of resolving conflicts through discussion and not war. The virtual meeting took place today and was chaired by Pekka Haavisto & Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Foreign Affairs Council meeting to decide the sanctions against the leaders of the Russian Federation responsible for the military invasion of #Ukraine and how #EU will help politically, economically and in a humanitarian manner the Ukrainian people.

This morning I met representatives of the Ukrainian community in Malta to organize with them humanitarian aid and how to facilitate the reunification of families.

This morning I met with Dr Irina Pereverzeva of the Russian Center for Science and Culture and discussed the need for social peace between Maltese, Russians and Ukrainians living together on these islands.

With Monika Schmutz Kirgöz we discussed the great need for a ceasefire in #Ukraine, the work needed for peace in #Europe & beyond, and our role as neutral countries in favour of #peace and #dialogue.

Started the EU Foreign Affairs Ministers mtg on the war in #Ukraine & how we can help the Ukrainian people from the ferocious attacks ordered by President Putin. So much tears, so much destruction, so much suffering of millions having to leave their homes. The fighting must stop.

Today in #Malta Min Evarist Bartolo & I agreed on need to preserve the unity & stability of #Libya through dialogue & a consensual path to elections. We are concerned for #Ukraine crisis impact on 🇱🇾 & the region. I called on all 🇱🇾 & intl actors to support Stephanie Turco Williams mediation

Today I bid farewell to my friend, Minister of Foreign Affairs of #Malta, Evarist Bartolo, who has always been a man of #peace & wisdom, a source of help & support for the #Libyan cause, &for me as Foreign Minister.with all my best wishes to him.
