Tina Held, Alex Tietze & I wrote an editorial on the planned changes of the #WissZeitVG published in the issue 5/24 of the BIOspektrum. At least for the biological sciences the changes would make the life of (aspiring) PostDocs in GER a lot harder. 1/3 biospektrum.de/ausgabe

The proposed changes have been approved by the cabinet in spring and commented on by the Bundesrat. I don't know the current status but please keep making noise (incl. directly with your respective MdBs) to not tighten the screws even further. 2/3

If you want groundbreaking, thorough, and creative science, we need time to work, think, and tinker. You simply can't force this into a strict time corset. Our employment system of (young) academic researchers needs a real reform and not yet another layer Verschlimmbesserung. 3/3
