“Through both our contributions to the Pandemic Fund as well as the US Government’s own substantial bilateral investment…we are helping lay the foundation for a stronger global health security architecture” - Atul Gawande x.com/pandemic_fund/…
Today, I announced the U.S. is pledging up to $667 million to support the The Pandemic Fund through 2026. This investment will help the world prevent and respond to the next pandemic — protecting Americans and others globally.
Contributions to the The Pandemic Fund, as well as the United States’ investments in global health security in more than 50 countries, are helping build a world better prepared for future pandemics.
Today, World Health Organization (WHO) declared a public health emergency of international concern for mpox across various parts of Africa. USAID joins World Health Organization (WHO)'s calls to collectively work together to respond to this deadly outbreak by investing in more resources and protecting those most vulnerable.
After decades without major advances, we now have a steady stream of innovations to stop TB—the number one infectious disease killer globally. Now, the world must commit to deploying them. My column in today's The New York Times: nytimes.com/2024/08/16/opi…
Great piece by Atul Gawande on TB and the big opportunity we have--and must take. nytimes.com/2024/08/16/opi…
New innovations for diagnosing, treating, and preventing the world's #1 infectious disease killer—tuberculosis—are available. But as Atul Gawande put it: that won’t matter unless the world commits to deploying them. Great read from him in @NYTimes today nytimes.com/2024/08/16/opi…
.Atul Gawande's piece in the The New York Times offers a hopeful outlook on combating TB, but the fight is far from over. We must continue to push for stronger efforts in researching, treating, and preventing TB, and bringing awareness to this fight! Read more: nyti.ms/4dphVJP
Thank you to YOU and World Health Organization (WHO) for your work to end TB globally.
Africa is home to 94% of the world’s malaria cases but only produces a fraction of the supplies needed to test for and treat malaria. To help bring supplies closer to where they're needed most, U.S. President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) is doubling down on their commitment to localization.
Thank you Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus -- and thank you World Health Organization (WHO) for declaring the Public Health Emergency for #mpox and for your critical coordination of the global response.
