Hey @PeterDoggers, I remember in 2015-18 you covered very fairly the Kremlin attempts to influence FIDE. Has anything changed since then? ChessCom doesn't seem very keen to cover the outrageous decisions of FIDE about the sanctions vs the Russian CF. Have we missed something?

#FIDE #chess UPDATE: There are rumours that the majority of FIDE's Advisory Board (not an executive body) is recommending that, concerning the situation of Russia in FIDE, to keep the “status quo” and not violate any IOC decisions.

George Mastrokoukos (@gmastrokoukos) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Yes, the issue can still be discussed in the GA despite the decision of the FIDE Council. The GA is a higher body than the Council and Filatov is still fighting back. Both decisions of Advisory Board and Council can be challenged in GA... So nothing is over yet!

Peter Heine Nielsen Right, but the vote is by the GA, not the Council. Council's decision is final , GA can accept it or go against it (and against IOC / ARISF), see the update chessdom.com/fide-council-r…

#chess #FIDE #Ukraine NEW UPDATES ADDED: Very strong letter by the IOC-affiliated Association of Recognized International Sport Federations (ARISF) ⤵️ chessdom.com/fide-council-r…

Looking forward to official confirmation of these news. Good news for the whole free world. And yes, we are grateful for all the support we’ve got. Thanks to everyone for standing for the values. #NoRussianBloodyFlagBackInChess

Elk and Ruby Publishing House Leon Watson Practically, it is only a recommendation by the Council on how to vote. But it is still a win for Ukraine on the way to the GA, as the Dvorkovich-controlled Council realized the risks for themselves by going against the IOC. They cracked with the very first danger they felt.

And the approach time for NATO missiles is 1-2 minutes to the Sarmat missile… your missiles won’t even fire before they are destroyed Mr Speaker.

Stoltenberg: The quickest way to end a war is to lose it, but that would bring Russian occupation to the world The paradox is that the more weapons we give Ukraine, the more confident we are that we can bring peace. The Minsk agreements in 2014 did not bring peace. Any future

World No.1 & GOAT Magnus Carlsen shook the #chess world minutes ago by stating on the stage of the #FIDE100 gala, near Dvorkovich, that he would vote against the Russian/Kyrgyz proposal to lift sanctions on Russia! Absolute respect to Magnus Carlsen! youtube.com/watch?v=gE5I_p…
