If you get a chance, join me on MLB Network Radio at 9:30 this morning with Steve Phillips and Eduardo Perez. I think they might want to talk about Keith Raad night in Valley Stream but it wouldn’t surprise me if the New York Mets came up.

The organist did a great job on Meet the Mets. Beautifully channeled the Jane Jarvis standard version. Just needed a Thomas Organ.

The anniversary of that game is tomorrow night. Tonight is the anniversary’s of Randy Hundley jumping up and down after Tommie Agee was (properly) called safe at the plate in the Mets’ 3-2 win over the Cubs. Great times.

Here’s one for you. Admittedly a small sample, and the leader in the clubhouse is probably Todd Pratt, but is Luis Torrens making a case to be considered for the honor of best backup catcher in New York Mets franchise history?

Bob is 87 and has Parkinson’s. His doctor told him to exercise. He called and showed up and has been coming three times a week Bob deserves unlimited retweets for his efforts 👊

The New York Mets family has taken a huge hit. We are all terribly saddened to learn of the passing of an all time Mets favorite, Ed Kranepool. Through his many physical challenges in recent years he remained upbeat and smiling. A wonderful man and dear friend. RIP to a true champion.

The 1969 World Champion Mets meant the world to me. They changed my life. Accordingly, I was so honored to have my friends Ed Kranepool and Art Shamsky formally present my Mets Hall of Fame plaque at last year’s induction ceremonies. I shall treasure that forever. RIP, number 7.

You know, we’ve lost four members of the 1969 Mets this year, but I get the feeling that when Ed Kranepool reconnected with Bud Harrelson, Jerry Grote and Jim McAndrew they watched the 8th inning and worked some of that old Met Magic. Right out of the ‘69 playbook.

Kudos to the NY Post for uncovering one of the rarest of Mets pictures; someone other than Tom Seaver wearing number 41. This is from the Post’s Ed Kranepool obituary. That’s pitcher Jim Bethke with outfielder Billy Cowan and Ed in 1965. Pitcher Gordie Richardson wore 41 in 1966.

Join me at 11:30 on MLB Network’s High Heat with Chris Russo as we look back on the life of Ed Kranepool and ahead to this year’s New York Mets pursuit of a berth in the post season.
