Climate deniers have taken the blue pill and refuse to acknowledge what's happening around them. If they only knew what they face in the near future... or what about their kids in the not so distant future?

Our "window of opportunity" was in the 20th century. Now it's damage control, except we're not doing that either. If you think 1.2C of warming is bad, wait for business as usual and tipping points to push us to 3C. #ClimateEmergency

I learned about 2 more tipping points: 1) Melting ice stays at 0C, stabilizing the arctic. Once melted, heat energy now warms the water. Simple physics, but at a planetary scale! 2) Methane hydrate in sediment on the sea floor will become unstable if too hot and release it.

Science has explained the Little Ice Age (volcanos and lower sun output). The climate models on the bottom chart match the top chart's volcanic, solar irradiance and other forcings well. That is until we get to the Industrial Revolution's GHG emissions where c) rises after 1800s.

I'd like to hear your opinion on this Meet Kevin😇 We could have been working on a slow transition from fossil fuels for 40+ years in some sectors if they hadn't kicked the can this far. Not so easy for aviation, shipping, cement, steel, ammonia, other chemicals, plastics, etc.

Isn't more CO2 a good thing? ✅ Small increase helps photosynthesis, but soil nitrogen limits this ⛔At 550ppm it leads to nutrient deficiency ⛔Climate change results in drought, heat stress & flooding which lowers yield ⛔Rising temp lowers yield scientificamerican.com/article/ask-th…

I like Bill McKibben's take on this: "5th largest economy on Earth" is suing Big Oil. Its time they were confronted about their greenwashing. Sometimes I forget how large and powerful California can be.

Renewable energy has its pros and cons like everything else. Do wind turbines kill birds? Yes, but not many compared to other things. I've read that painting one of the blades black helps birds avoid them better. Data based on bird deaths during 2017. fws.gov/library/collec…

Scientists expected a 7% increase in precipitation intensity during extreme storms for every +1C. However, it has increased at 15% in regions like the Himalayas, Alps and Rockies. Also, these regions may see a 7x-8x increase in the occurrence of extreme rainfall events by 2100.

Renewables replace fossil fuel powerpalants and vehicles. In reality, they are being added on top. Also, fossil fuels will continue powering iron/steel/cement production, and make asphalt/chemicals, as well as mining, aviation, and sea transport. Guess what makes renewables too?

I thought the Amazon River was important to locals and the planet. That bottom right image is the possible +2.5C world with reduced rainfall in red right where the Amazon Rain Forest is. Doesn't it need rain? Isn't it often referred to as the planet's lungs?

A warming climate has increased the number of Vibrio Vulnificus infections 8x! News outlets call it flesh eating bacteria. It has an 18% mortality rate. If you survive, you probably had 1+ limbs amputated. A San Jose woman had all 4 limbs amputated. nature.com/articles/s4159…

Why do economists, politicians and policymakers expect GDP to rise 3% or more forever? It's directly proportional to fossil fuel use. OurWorldInData.org/co2-and-greenh…

Peak tonnage caught in specific ocean fish species occurred in 1976. Globally, peak tonnage occurred in 1996. Nowadays, fisherman fish for subsidies. They would quit going to remote areas and bottom trawling if not for the subsidies. Source: Daniel Pauly youtube.com/watch?v=Jq_747…
