Just listened to narrator of the audiobook version of my new book on the Psychology of D&D read the line "RAAAAWRR! I'M A VELOCIRAPTOR!" from the chapter on role-playing. Perfect. Nailed it. Absolutely no notes. psychologyofgames.com/2024/07/how-to…

We shared the news with our close community yesterday, and now we’re sharing with the public: Take This will shut its doors before the end of the year if we can’t secure funding. Doctor B ‘s bittersweet and transparent blog post has the details. takethis.org/2024/08/take-t…

Dear everybody, when I don't reply to your email with just "Thanks!" or "Awesome!" it doesn't mean I don't appreciate you. It just means I'm trying not to add yet another email to clutter your inbox. Pass it on.

Podcast host keeps increasing the number of ads they want me to insert in order to stay "compliant" with the program. They now want THREE mid-roll ad breaks for an episode under an hour long. Which is a lot, so I'm not doing it. Even though it bites into ad revenue.

New podcast episode is up! Why do we enjoy really hard games (Dark Souls) or really easy games (Cookie Clicker)? In this episode I'll explore one theory about uncertainty reduction that helps explain why we find ANY kind of game engaging. psychologyofgames.com/2024/09/podcas…

I'm still amazed that my first book on the psychology of games, Getting Gamers, has such a long tail. It came out years ago but still sold hundreds of copies in the first half of 2024. Makes me wonder if I should do a 2nd edition with updated game references.
