More or Less podcast this week -- Telegram, Pavel, and what this moment says about where we are with encryption and free speech. Don't write checks you can't technically cash & don't show up to the bargaining table as a tech company without a real war chest!

I completely agree with Founder Mode for great founders and have enjoyed covering many who take this approach. But not all founders are great by definition and because scaling a company is beyond hard. Now, I think it is going to be used by less than great founders to justify

Another thing on Founder Mode and the Jobs analogy. He had Tim Cook. Founders do need managers to help them especially because founder are usually pretty annoying to work for and others can be better at keeping the culture the founder sets going and translating and smoothing out

.The Information team never ceases to amaze me. Today: a remarkably thorough catalog of all the new supercomputers being built for AI, where they are located and the size and power of each cluster. Amazing work from Anissa Gardizy The picture of who is in the lead is clear.

Founder-mode is about “bringing new things to life” argues Fidji Simo and that is something ALL great execs can do. A great piece where Fidji opens up about her own management experience in a way that is rare and a great voice to have in The Information opinion.

I founded The Information for two reasons. The first was that I couldn’t stand by and watch tech upend journalism just as we needed great journalism about the tech industry more urgently than ever. The second was that I was firmly convinced I would learn a lot more in my career

An important read from A.G. Sulzberger on the global attacks against a free press and what they mean for the U.S. in the The Washington Post. It's never easy to speak out on this topic as it could make life harder for some NYT journalists. But this is completely warranted and important.

"In early internal discussions at OpenAI, subscription prices ranging up to $2,000 per month were on the table, said one person with direct knowledge of the numbers, though nothing is final." Stephanie Palazzolo theinformation.com/articles/opena…
