It's a rough weekend here. Loki is in the animal hospital with severe anaemia and a suspected intestinal tumour or ulcer. The prognosis is poor. We hope for luck, but prepare for the worst.

I was the emergency organist at the village church this morning - the first time in 30 years that I've played a church organ! The music was therapeutic and the distraction from worrying about Lokes was very welcome. And there was tea and cake afterwards.

The Loki news is that his red blood cells have increased overnight and he's eating and comfortable. Tomorrow, the scan will hopefully tell us where the tumour is. Then, the question is whether it's malignant or not. If it's benign, we may have some options.

Loki is home. In 24 hours we'll know the nature of the tumour. Malignancy is strongly suspected, but there are a range of possibilities within that. We will deal with what comes along.

I arranged a CT scan for a dog with cancer at just 48 hours notice. We should be able to do that for human beings. It's just so fucked up that we can't.
